Exercise Therapy
Therapeutic exercise involves movement prescribed to correct impairments, restore muscular and skeletal function and/or maintain a state of well-being.
The scientific evidence demonstrating the beneficial effects of exercise is indisputable, and the benefits of exercise far outweigh the risks in most adults. For most adults, an exercise program including aerobic, resistance, flexibility, and neuromotor exercise training is indispensable to improve and maintain physical fitness and health.
Therapeutic exercise a core skills upon which the profession of physiotherapy is based.
Soft tissue mobilisation and manipulation
The soft tissue within the human body comprises muscles, tendons, ligaments, and their protective outer covering known as fascia. After injury, trauma, or overuse, this tissue can shorten and tighten, which causes aches, pains, and restricted movement.
Soft tissue mobilization is an umbrella term for manual therapy techniques that individuals can utilize to restore or optimize function. Several different types of soft tissue mobilization and manipulation help relax the muscles, provide pain relief, flexibility, and full functionality.
Joint Mobilisation
Joint mobilisation is a gentle manual therapy, applied at varying intensities or "grades", depending on the severity of the condition and required outcome. These grades of mobilisation produce different actions on mechanoreceptors in the joint.
From a gentle oscillatory motion to more sustained movements at a joints' "end of range", different receptors can be activated which are aimed at improving the range and fluidity of movement, whilst reducing tension of the surrounding soft tissues and increasing blood flow and lymphatic drainage around the joint.
Joint mobilisation is used where a joint may have been restricted by injury or casting. It is also a necessary part of the rehabilitation following surgery and joint replacement.
Dry Needling
Trigger-point dry needling is an invasive procedure where a fine needle or acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin and muscle. It is aimed at myofascial trigger points (MTrP).
Dry needling is almost always used as a part of an overall plan that will likely include some type of exercise, manual therapy and education. Dry needling is used to increase range of motion that may be limited due to muscle tightness or scar tissue.
Cupping Therapy (Myofascial Decompression)
Cupping therapy formally known as myofascial decompression (MFD) is an ancient eastern method of healing that has recently grown in popularity in the west due to its health benefits.
For cupping therapy, plastic or silicone suction cups are used to create negative pressure between the layers of tissues in an affected area on the body. A suction gun is used to extract the air out of the cup, creating this pressure. This draws blood that is rich in nutrients to the affected area and helps to encourage quicker healing.
Corticosteroid Injection Therapy
Injection therapy is an extremely effective treatment as part of a physiotherapy programme for conditions such as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow or joint osteoarthritis or it can also be used as a stand alone treatment for conditions such as trigger finger or De Quervains Tenosynovitis (wrist tendon pain).
Steroid injections provide an effective anti-inflammatory and pain relieving treatment directly to the joint or soft tissues causing pain. Clinical specialist physiotherapists carry out the injections using ultrasound guidance to ensure the accuracy of the treatment. Normally, only one injection is required to gain sufficient pain relief and restore normal range of movement.

Testimonials
Excellent service
I visited medicphyiso with a very painful shoulder that had severely restricted movement and which was stopping me doing everyday tasks. I had 5 sessions in total, each were a mix of assessment, hands on treatment and corrective exercises to do between sessions. Eva was always professional, thorough, friendly and ran on time. The shoulder problem is now fully resolved and I have no hesitation in recommending her.

Incredible level of care and expertise
I've had excellent support from my physiotherapist Mahmud. He is knowledgeable, encouraging and pushes me to go the extra mile to aid my recovery. I have recommended him to friends and family who have been equally impressed.
Great physio
Eva was so thorough with my assessment. She explained everything really thoroughly and as a result I feel very optimistic that the exercises given will help enormously. The environment was super friendly and safe and I'm looking forward to my follow up! Highly recommended.
Fantastic Physio Service
Immediately felt like I was in good hands. Deductive process, both verbal and physical was logical and quick. Everything was explained clearly as we went along too. It's too early to see results yet but I definitely feel that I'm on the right road. Highly recommended.
Professional and convenient service
I have had a brilliant experience of using MedicPhysio in Havant. I have seen Eva several times over the last few months following a shoulder injury and now to correct a running knee niggle. She is both professional and knowledgeable and I feel confident that I am on the mend. I have and would recommend Eva to others.
Professional, friendly, obliging
Professional, helpful, friendly, obliging and persistent in diagnosing my problem and doing their best to make me comfortable and working out practical, tailor made solutions.
Professional and effective
I was able to book an appointment online and be seen, after work hours, within a week of contacting. The physio diagnoses the problem and provided intervention in the first session, with immediate relief. I required 3 session and provided with a handful of helpful stretches. No more back problem. A very effective and professional service, at a reasonable cost for Havant. I intend to return for general 'MOTs' in order to keep on top of things.
Brilliant!
I thought they were really terrific, they understood my problem and together we worked out a programme that has got my shoulder feeling better than it has done for years. I feel really lucky to have been looked after by the team at MedicPhysio.

So happy that I found Medicphysio! I was having severe back pain and loss of movement that Physios and Chiropractors couldn't seem to resolve, but following my Deep Tissue treatment with Eva my range of movement is almost back to normal and pain has disappeared. Eva was very knowledgeable and helpful, and made me feel at ease straight away - I have already recommended her to several people! I'm so grateful to her for helping my recovery and enabling me to be able to get back into my fitness routine - thank you.
