Came upon Banks fish shop by chance and was pleasantly surprised. Clean, pleasant service and good prices for eat in or take away.

I live in Horndean, and although there are plenty of chippys within a couple of miles, few of them really stand out, and none that offer an attractive sit down experience. I got to try Banks' with my daughter last night, and was mightily impressed. I think they've got it all right. The place is bright, cheerful, clean and roomy. Service was cheerful and efficient, and the quality of the fish and chips was all you could wish for. I had the large cod and chips, and large it certainly was! A huge piece of fish, white and flaky, and crispy dry batter, on a mound of dry and crispy chips. Perfect. The prices are right too. Given how close it is to me, it's ideal for dinner, I'd rather do that than take it home! Oh one more thing...it does rock salmon. Anyone remember that? I always used to eat that when I was a child in Fulham, I haven't seen it for years, and thought it might have just been a London tradition!
