Profile

Boundary Oak School is a Day and Boarding school for boys and girls aged 2 - 16 years. Small enough for all of its pupils to be known to each other and by all members of staff, but large enough for there to be a wide range of opportunities for each and everyone to reach his or her full potential and to discover new interests and talents.

We believe firmly in the importance of the development of the individual, supported and encouraged by the whole school community. Consequently, the family values of kindness, encouragement and respect for one another lie at the heart of life here. We are blessed with a rural site that has easy access to transport links. Boundary Oak School is set in 23 acres of beautiful parkland close to Junction 10 of the M27, with several rail stations nearby offering routes to London and other major cities. Southampton Airport and ferry routes to the Isle of Wight and the continent are also just a short drive away.

The main school house dates back to 1280 and is reached by passing through a Tudor Gatehouse know as The Lodge. Behind the school lie our extensive playing fields, covered heated swimming pool and astro pitch. Surrounded by woodlands, our pupils are encouraged to learn by exploring and playing in the natural world around them.

To encourage self-confidence and engagement with the wider world, there is an impressive range of extra-curricular activities. Music and Drama play an important part in the life of the School, and all children from Pre-School to Seniors get the opportunity to perform to their peers and family in plays and concerts in our purpose built hall. Our modern Art and DT block offers excellent facilities and a stimulating environment for the creative hands-on student. Sport has a vital role too, as all pupils are supported to have a go as well as to develop their abilities, and to enjoy the experience of representing the school.

Our children are encouraged to become self-assured young people who are equipped to tackle the challenges that lie ahead as life unfolds into senior school and beyond. To this end they are given the chance to contribute to the running of the school by taking on a variety of positions of responsibility and through our School Council.

Deciding on how and where to educate your children is one of the most important decisions you will make. We believe that childhood should be seen as a journey, not a race, and we are proud of the way that our teachers work alongside the pupils to encourage the development of the whole child.
